Watching Jérémy’s videos, something shifted. I discovered the world of women’s fitness. Then everything suddenly clicked into place. It was as if I had finally found a name for what I’d been looking for for a long time, without being able to put it into words. By my 50th birthday, I had managed to build my body.

At 48, Céline was living a full life. Between work, family life, dinners with friends, and a bit of exercise to stay in shape, there was no time to get bored.

For her body, though, it was a different story.

Sure, she did a bit of exercise. And she also watched what she ate, from time to time. But how long had it been since her body had truly been a priority? 

The years had flown by without her really noticing. Céline kept moving forward, carried along by the pace of life, with that strange feeling of having been on autopilot. And in front of the mirror, something felt off. Her reflection no longer matched the woman she felt she was on the inside.

Céline didn’t just want to keep living a full life. She wanted to feel good in her body. To regain energy. Confidence. That feeling of being aligned with herself.

So at 48, Céline made a decision many women don’t dare make, to put her body on the same level of priority as the rest of her life.

And that choice changed everything.

In barely a year, her transformation was spectacular, a muscular, defined body, a lean and feminine silhouette. And above all, a woman who had finally put herself back at the center of her own life.

And the craziest part of all this? Before starting coaching, Céline had never done strength training.

If she managed to transform her body at nearly 50, it’s thanks to three simple but powerful pillars:

How do you build muscle at 50 as a woman? 

To succeed in your physical transformation, we’re going to start with something that seems very simple on the surface, but will shape everything else in your journey.

Have a clear body transformation goal

It may seem obvious, and yet it’s the foundation of any physical transformation. You need to know where you want to go in order to know how to get there.

That’s why we always ask the women we coach to describe precisely the body they want to achieve, and to pair it with a photo of a woman’s body that inspires them. This simple visualization exercise makes all the difference, you stop dreaming about if I had that body, and start moving toward when I have that body.

This information then allows us to determine precisely how to approach your physical transformation:

  • Which muscle group to work on;
  • How often;
  • With what load;
  • How to eat;

Among other things.

All while respecting your pace, your schedule, your tastes, and even your constraints, whether physical or dietary. You also have more than 1200 healthy and delicious recipes available on our site. More than enough to never run out of meal ideas.

That’s exactly what we did with Céline.

Her goal? It was crystal clear. It felt obvious. Even though she had never done strength training in her life, she wanted to compete in Bikini Fitness. And for that, she needed to aim for a muscular, well-defined body while staying feminine. You’ll see her physical transformation in detail a little further down.

It was this clear goal that fueled her transformation. It’s what allowed her to stay on course the whole way through.

Have a nutrition and training program adapted to your physical goal

Once Céline’s goal was clearly established, we had to put the program in place that would allow her to reach it. That’s where nutrition and strength training come in.

When it comes to weight loss, or muscle gain, the first instinct is to think you need to eat less, less fat, and less salt. And that you need to do a lot of cardio, or spend hours in the gym. And that’s enough to discourage a large number of women who want to take back control.

Because they tell themselves, and that was Céline’s case, that it’s going to be miserable. That they won’t enjoy any of it. Well, believe it or not, that’s far from the truth.

Nutrition, building muscle while enjoying your food

When you’re trying to build muscle while losing fat, there are a few simple rules to follow. These few rules are the foundation of your nutrition program. They’re what your daily meals will be built around.

There are 5 of these rules. We call them the Big 5.

These are the rules that allowed Isabelle, 55, to succeed in her physical transformation, just like Céline did.

She had been a serious athlete for more than 20 years, and this transformation changed her life. Before that, she couldn’t get the results she wanted despite all her efforts.

Now let’s look at the first rule of the Big 5.

1. Hit your daily calorie target.

You can do everything perfectly. You can eat organic, healthy, homemade food, without too much sugar, without too much fat, without this or that. But if the number of calories you eat each day isn’t aligned with your goal, all the effort in the world won’t be enough.

This calorie total depends on many things, like your age, height, current weight, daily activity level, and above all, your goal. 

Once your metabolism calculation is established, you know where you’re going. Everything becomes simpler. You no longer eat at random, hoping the last meal you ate wasn’t too fatty or too sweet

Does that mean that if we need to eat 1,500 calories a day to reach our goal, we can eat anything as long as we hit that total? Well, no. You need to make sure you eat enough protein, fats, and fiber.

2. Eat enough protein.

Céline was eating too little protein without even realizing it. But that’s very common among the women we coach. Protein is too often neglected, even though it’s essential to your physical transformation.

That’s why we recommend eating between 1.4 and 2.3 g per kg of body weight.

In practical terms, a 60 kg woman should eat between 1.4 x 60 = 84 g and 2.3 x 60 = 138 g of protein per day. Aiming for 1.8 g per kg of body weight is ideal, which means 108 g of protein for a 60 kg woman.

3. Eat enough fats and fiber.

Protein isn’t the only thing to consider. Eating enough fats and fiber is just as important for your success.

For fats, we advise you to consume between 20 and 40% of your daily calorie intake in the form of fats. The closer you get to 40%, the more beneficial it will be for your muscle gain and physical transformation. That’s what Céline did, consuming between 35 and 40% fats.

As for fiber, we recommend a minimum of 25 g/day.

These first three rules are the core of your nutrition. The foundation your future body rests on. As for the last two rules, they’re more about how you manage your nutrition.

4. Measure what you eat.

To make sure you stay on track every day, you need to monitor the amount of calories, protein, fats, carbohydrates, and fiber you consume.

And for that, nothing could be simpler. As part of our coaching, we provide our app, which automatically calculates everything for you.

That way, at any point in the day, you know exactly where you stand and what you still have left to eat. All you have to do is enter the foods you ate and their quantities.

And that brings us to the last point, the quantities you eat.

5. Keep a food log, at least at first.

You read it in the title, to know the quantities you consume every day, you need to count your calories.

It may sound tedious, but honestly, after a few days, you won’t even think about it anymore.

Keeping a food log is just temporary learning. Just long enough for your eye to adjust. After that, you can absolutely stop and keep eating intuitively while still getting results. All the women we coach tell us the same thing:

  • At first, it’s new;
  • Then very quickly, it becomes a habit;
  • And in the end, it’s freeing.

Céline went through that too, and says it herself:

“At first, the idea of having to keep a food log every day didn’t excite me. But in the end, pretty quickly, it became part of my routine. Now, it’s a game to hit my goals every day.”

If you follow these few points, nutrition will become incredibly simple. And don’t worry, there’s no need to become excessively rigid and try to hit everything down to the gram or calorie. As long as you get close, you’re doing fine.

Since she was aiming for 1,500 kcal, 120 g of protein, 67 g of fats, and 25 g of fiber, this is an example of an optimal day for Céline.

With nutrition properly in place, we can now move on to the training side.

Strength training, the best way to build muscle at 50

Now that you have what you need to feed your muscles, you need to stimulate them. That’s essential if you want to develop them and firm up your body. Even more so in your fifties, when muscle loss is more pronounced than in your thirties.

And to stimulate your muscles, nothing beats strength training.

But why exactly? Why not swimming or running? Because it’s the only activity that allows you to target each muscle in the body with precision. It brings balance and symmetry, from head to toe. You shape your body by giving it the form you want, just like a sculptor does with a sculpture.

It’s this targeted stimulation, combined with a deep understanding of human anatomy, that makes it possible to achieve a harmonious and balanced silhouette. You can see it clearly here with Isabelle and Cécile. The first trained in a gym, and the second at home.

Isabelle, 41, also wanted to compete in bodybuilding. Just like Céline, she needed very specific training and a very specific nutrition program. That’s why she trained in a gym.

For Cécile, it was very different. She didn’t want to compete. What she wanted was to be able to look at herself in the mirror and feel proud of what she saw. And at 48, mission accomplished.

In 13 months, Cécile lost 11 kg of fat while firming up her body. As most of the women we coach tell us, she has never felt as good as she does now. She did all of this without ever setting foot in a gym. She trains at home, quietly, in her own small home gym. 

You are under no obligation to join a gym to build muscle. It really depends on your preferences and your goals. You can absolutely become a muscular woman at 50 by training at home. Cécile is far from the only one who has done it. Doris did too.

And of course, if you prefer going to the gym, enjoy it.

That’s what Dorothée, 53, did. A serious athlete, she was very active but couldn’t get a physique that matched her efforts.

To give you something concrete, here’s how Céline’s workouts were organized:

  • At the beginning, Céline did 3 strength training sessions per week. She trained full body. That means she worked all the muscles in her body in every session. The idea was to emphasize the muscles we wanted to develop more, namely the entire posterior chain, hamstrings, glutes, and back. All of this with the goal of achieving a balanced and harmonious body.
  • Once the foundations were in place, we progressed her program. The goal here was to optimize her physical preparation for the upcoming bikini fitness competition. She then moved to 5 one-hour sessions per week in the gym. We continued emphasizing the glutes, back, and hamstrings, while still training the whole body. There was also a strong focus on the thighs, which were essential for a harmonious look. For that, Céline did several pushing exercises, such as squats and the incline leg press. Squats allowed her to develop her thighs and glutes while also strengthening her back and core.

This program allowed her to go from an H-shaped silhouette to an X-shaped silhouette, broad, defined shoulders, a narrow waist, and defined thighs. 

Why this number and duration of sessions? 

Quite simply because Céline had the time and the desire to do it that way. That’s the whole advantage of a personalized training program, it adapts to your schedule and your preferences.

That’s the big-picture view of how Céline prepared for her competition. Now that you’re clear on the first two essential elements for building muscle at 50, let’s look at the last one together.

Be consistent in reaching your goal

You now know that to build muscle at 50, you need: 

  • A clear goal;
  • A nutrition and training program adapted to it.

But there’s one last essential pillar, consistency.

Before starting coaching, Céline had a full life. Between fatigue and the ups and downs of daily life, the temptation to skip a workout or snack a little too much was very real. What made all the difference wasn’t never slipping up, but always coming back to the path we had mapped out together.

Being consistent doesn’t mean being perfect. It means accepting that some days will be harder than others. That sometimes you’ll want to skip your workout or give in to a high-calorie meal that’s calling your name. That’s normal. And human.

What really matters is what you do after those small slipups. Do you get back on the program the next day, without beating yourself up? Or do you give up everything you’ve built?

Every workout, every meal brings you closer to your goal. And a few small slipups won’t ruin your work.

To help you stay consistent, here are a few strategies that helped Céline:

  • Plan ahead: block out your workouts in your calendar like an appointment you can’t miss.
  • Keep tracking simple: write down your progress. Seeing your performance improve and your body change is the best motivation.
  • Don’t compare yourself to other women: your body is unique. Your story is too. Focus on yourself, and don’t let intrusive thoughts wear you down.

Consistency, combined with a clear goal and the right program, is the key that opens the door to physical transformation at 50. Without it, even the best program won’t bear fruit. Céline understood that very quickly. And it’s that consistency, day after day, that took her from skinny fat to a muscular, feminine, confident woman.

But as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. So now that we’ve seen the method Céline and all the 50-year-old women followed to build muscle and lose fat, let’s look at her physical transformation in pictures. In just a few minutes, you’ll see 14 months of progress, including 12 spent preparing for her first competition.

In barely a year, Céline had an incredible transformation. She had never done strength training in her life, and ended up taking first place in her very first competition.

But that wasn’t luck. Not at all. It was the result of months of work. To make it happen, we had to adapt to Céline and her progress, to make sure she kept moving toward her physical goal. That’s what we do for all the women we coach, whether you want to compete or not.

Because Céline was preparing for a competition, her training was very specific. We took it step by step, going through several phases. Five in total.

Starting point: July 1, 2024

At that point, Céline weighed 55.7 kg. As you can see, she wasn’t overweight. But what bothered her, and what absolutely had to change for the competition, was that she was soft. She was what we call skinny fat, meaning slim, but soft. She lacked muscle mass and firmness because of a small excess of fat. On top of that, she had an H-shaped silhouette. Since the goal was for her to achieve an X-shaped silhouette, we had to prioritize developing her thighs, back, and shoulders.

Step 1: Caloric deficit for fat loss, from 07/01/24 to 09/30/24 (3 months), from 55.7 kg to 51.8 kg

The first 3 months of coaching were aimed at helping her lose fat. She got rid of 4 kg of fat. To do that, we put a caloric deficit in place. She ate fewer calories than her body uses each day to function. That forces it to pull the missing energy from its fat stores. And the magic happens.

Step 2: Calorie surplus for muscle gain, from 10/01/24 to 04/21/25 (~7 months), from 51.8 to 58.5 kg

Once the unnecessary fat was gone, we focused on her muscle gain. To do that, she moved from a caloric deficit to a calorie surplus. She therefore consumed more calories than her body needed, with the goal of making muscle gain easier. But without eating just anything. Just because you’re trying to gain weight doesn’t mean you should do it carelessly. Quite the opposite. Otherwise, the cut she had just done would have been pointless. So we aimed to make sure the kilos she gained were, as much as possible, kilos of muscle mass. 

Step 3: Slight caloric deficit to remove the small amount of fat that had accumulated, from 04/22/25 to 06/23/25 (2 months), from 58.5 to 56 kg

Once the bulk was over, we started a slight cutting phase to eliminate the extra fat gained during that period. The goal, every time we enter a caloric deficit, is to bring out the muscles, reveal their lines and shape. These are essentially the criteria bikini fitness competitors are judged on, the quality of muscle shape, the clarity of the silhouette, and the overall balance of proportions.

Step 4: Slight bulk to optimize muscle gain, from 06/24/25 to 08/04/25 (~1.5 months), from 56 to 57.6 kg

We then went back into a slight bulk. Since the goal was for her to have an optimal physique, we worked on refining her muscle gain in preparation for the competition. 

Step 5: Final cut to prepare for the competition, from 08/05/25 to 09/15/25 (1.5 months), from 57.6 kg to 53.2 kg

A month and a half before the long-awaited competition, we finished with the final cut. The goal of this cut was for Céline to achieve the most defined physique possible, without losing the muscle mass she had built over the previous months. 

And here’s the result at the IFBB Coupe de France.

But Céline’s physical transformation doesn’t stop there.

Step 6: A month and a half after the competition (10/25/25), slight bulk

The competition was only one step on her path. As you’re about to see, her physique kept evolving after the competition.

In the end, here’s how Céline’s physique changed over the first 14 months of coaching:

Her body changed completely: 

  • More muscle;
  • Less fat;
  • A more balanced and harmonious feminine X-shaped silhouette.

And all of that while weighing the same as when she started coaching. That’s the magic of a successful physical transformation. And above all, that’s the magic of personalized coaching, adapting the program to reach the goals that were set. To reach your goals

But do you also have to go through all these stages to get the body of your dreams? Will you also end up as muscular and defined as Céline if you do strength training? Absolutely not. It depends on your goals. 

Céline’s physical preparation was unique because she was preparing for a fitness competition.

But whether you’re preparing for a bodybuilding competition or simply trying to feel good in your body at 50, the basic approach is the same, adjust the nutrition and training program as your progress and feedback evolve.

As you can see here, Gina and Coralie both followed our coaching. And yet they got different results, because their goals were different.

Gina was also aiming to compete. She was skinny fat, so we had body recomposition work to do, gaining muscle while getting rid of fat, even though she wasn’t overweight.

Coralie, on the other hand, wanted to feel better in her body. She no longer recognized herself at all and needed change. She wanted to find herself again.

Even though the beginning of strength training was hard for her, she stuck with it. The result? Coralie lost nearly 24 kg in a year and a half, while building muscle along the way. She got the body she had dreamed of, to the point that she now feels better than ever. She is thriving, and absolutely does not regret continuing strength training despite a difficult start. 

As you’ve understood by now, Céline and every woman you’ve seen were coached to succeed in their physical transformation. So we’d now like to talk with you about a point that is often poorly handled. And that poor handling results in losing months, or even years, on the way to your goals.

10 months ago, I joined Jérémy's program feeling deeply exhausted, both physically and mentally, with the sense that I'd tried everything without ever being able to stick with it over time.

Living with moderate obesity, I tried different methods, diets, fasting, and even electrostimulation, but I always ended up giving up, with more frustration, more guilt, and extra weight gained.

The real wake-up call came when I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea: my weight gain was no longer just about my appearance or my self-esteem, but also about my health.

A difference of about 10 kg (weight loss) and a more toned physique.

Not everything was perfect. Sometimes, I didn’t follow the program, and Jérémy helped me let go of the guilt. Those moments are part of the process, what matters is doing your best and sticking with it. Sometimes, I felt like it was pointless, then I looked at the results. I was proud of myself. Other times, I was extremely consistent and it was absolutely on fire.

Before Jérémy, my body was a real obstacle and I didn’t understand why my weight was going up even though “I wasn’t eating that badly.”

I chose to start coaching after gradual weight gain that was worrying me. Despite that, the professionals I saw did not take me seriously, since my BMI was considered "normal." I was often told that "after 40, that's completely common." And yet, deep down, I knew something was wrong. I'm one of those people who prefer to listen to their own feelings rather than blindly trust conventional narratives.

I dreamed of it, and Jérémy made it happen!

How can I describe the incredible life-changing experience of meeting Jérémy, a coach who is educational, kind, and always listening?
The ideal coach, really!

I’ve never exactly been naturally slim, but I have to admit I really went off track in recent years, gaining 20 kg in 5 years without managing to turn things around.
Despite my various attempts, cardio, diet support, EMS electrostimulation classes, and even "good resolutions", none of them worked.
So in the end, I had more or less resigned myself and accepted it: it was too late to change, and I would just live with the consequences of letting myself go for the rest of my life, dissatisfied...

Then, this summer, came the wake-up moment: I couldn’t keep up with my sons and my husband or fully enjoy family activities.
Determined to change the course of things and stop suffering through it without reacting, I clearly identified what I needed: support from someone able to help me both nutritionally and physically.

I reached out to Jérémy after gaining weight following a thyroidectomy, combined with the onset of menopause. I was stuck in limiting beliefs, convinced, after reading many testimonials from women in my situation, that it was almost impossible to lose weight after that kind of surgery and with menopause.
