6 months ago, I was blaming everything on perimenopause. But with the right information and the right program, menopause isn't even an issue anymore. No matter your age or your background, it's possible. Today, my physique is much more aligned with who I've always been on the inside.

30 years of sports, including 10 spent doing fitness and 15 running, and always the same old story. Always the same type of person telling me the same type of thing. People tell me it’s great that I came to cheer on my husband at his race. Or they just ignore me completely, because I don’t look the part. It’s one or the other.

But here’s the thing, if I come to all these races, it’s because I’m participating too! It may not show, but I’m athletic. And not just a little.

And when you’re athletic, believe me, if there’s one thing you don’t want to hear, it’s that you have everything except an athletic-looking body. Especially when you do sports like fitness and running.

To be honest, all those little things I didn’t pay attention to at first ended up eating away at me. To the point that I stopped competing. I’m not really legitimate enough to take part in competitions after all. I don’t know who I thought I was, thinking I belonged there, but I was completely off base. I’ll just stick to doing my little sport quietly on my own, and that’s it. There’s no point making too much effort anyway, since it doesn’t show no matter what.

What you just read is what Dorothée, 53, had resigned herself to thinking. Simply because her physical appearance didn’t match the effort she was putting in. And if you’re in the same situation, what follows could literally change your life.

If you’re reading these words today, we want to tell you this: no, all your efforts are not in vain. The physical activity you’re doing today is not useless. Even if you don’t have the body you’d like. And yes, you are absolutely legitimate. All you’re missing is the key information that will allow you to completely unlock your situation. Because yes, your situation is not set in stone. Your body can change. You can get the body you want, no matter your age.

So we suggest going through each of the things you need to fix to get the body you’ll finally feel good in, just like Dorothée did before you. 

And that’s true whether you have 5, 10, 20, or even 30 years of sports behind you. 

Counting your calories, the foundation of successful body recomposition

We’re not going to beat around the bush: counting your calories is essential if you want the body of your dreams. It can be uncomfortable to think that you’ll have to weigh your food and then determine how many calories you’ve eaten, but you’ll quickly understand that it speeds up results.

But concretely, why count calories?

When you’re driving somewhere and you don’t know the way, GPS is the best way to get there without detours or wasting time. It maps out the whole route for you. Counting your calories during weight loss (or a bulk) works the same way. We establish the daily calorie intake you need to hit your goal, and then all you have to do is follow it day by day. That way, your path is clearly laid out, and you make sure you’re on the right track.

Now that you understand the idea, let’s dig a little deeper.

Counting your calories, or how to succeed in your physical transformation without wasting time

No matter your age, sex, height, or physical condition, if you want to lose weight, you need to be in a caloric deficit. Put simply, you need to consume fewer calories each day than your body "needs" to function normally. It will pull the rest of the energy from your fat stores, allowing you to lose a little fat day after day, and therefore lose weight. 

Important point, this caloric deficit has to be adapted to your situation. You won’t eat the same number of calories if you have 8 kilos to lose or 30 kilos to lose. Precisely calculating your caloric deficit allows for an optimal calorie intake based on your daily energy needs (metabolism) and your physical goal), and therefore optimal results. Basically, better results faster.

That’s the whole point of counting your calories. You can easily make sure you’re actually sticking to your caloric deficit. Without that, there’s no way to know whether you’re eating too many or too few calories. So there’s no way to track your progress. Which means wasted time and frustration.

Dorothée was in that situation for years. She "watched what she ate", in the sense that she ate healthy, natural foods. She included very few ultra-processed foods in her diet. And yet, she couldn’t lose weight. To her, it made no sense.

She ended up believing she was different. That something was wrong with her.

It was only when she went through our nutrition course that she realized the problem: in reality, she was constantly in a calorie surplus. Put simply, she was eating more calories every day than her body needed, causing it to store the surplus as fat. 

Once she became aware of it, everything changed. In fact, that’s exactly what Isabelle, another client, experienced.

At 55, she couldn’t lose the fat that seemed permanently stuck on. And that was despite the previous 30 years spent running, doing marathons, and more. Once a caloric deficit was put in place, she managed in barely 5 months to achieve a physique she had never been able to get before.

You really need to understand that a "healthy" food does not necessarily mean a "low-calorie" food. Salmon, olive oil, almonds, and peanut butter are healthy foods, but very calorie-dense. And it’s easy to eat more of them than you should. 

500 calories from McDonald’s and 500 calories from salmon are still 500 calories, whether they come from ultra-processed or natural foods (even though, obviously, the nutrients in those foods are very different). 

It was by understanding all these concepts that Dorothée was able to make the changes she needed in her diet, which led her to her new physique.

As for me, I had the same problem, but in the opposite direction. Back when I didn’t know much about nutrition, I didn’t count my calories. The result: I ate extremely little (less than 1000 calories a day). I kept that pace all week, and when the weekend came, everything fell apart. I would devour everything I could to make up for the week’s frustration. Then Monday came and it started all over again. I was deep in my eating disorder. For example, here’s what my Saturday looked like:

  • Breakfast: a whole jar of Ovomaltine crunchy (it’s insanely good) + a whole bag of milk rolls + a whole box of Golden Grahams-type cereal + a whole carton of milk;
  • Lunch: I had stuffed myself so much in the morning that I didn’t eat;
  • Snack: a slice of cake;
  • Dinner: a pizza.

Needless to say, I was doing myself more harm than good. Like Dorothée, it was when I seriously looked into nutrition that I realized I had been completely off base. 

Counting your calories brings real peace of mind

One of the big advantages of counting your calories is that at any point in the day, you know how many calories you still have left to eat. You need to eat 1400 calories a day and you’re at 800 after lunch? Then you know you still have 600 calories left for the rest of the day. Basically, you know where you’re going. No uncertainty. And that takes a huge weight off your mind. No need to forbid yourself that cake or that piece of chocolate you’re craving so much. At this point, do you think you’ll have to count everything for life? Thankfully, no.

Counting your calories is not a punishment or a prison. It’s a learning phase. You think you know what you eat, you think you know what’s "healthy"... but in reality, very few of us actually know the calorie density of our meals. And that’s where mistakes pile up. Why can’t I lose weight? That’s the question I’ve been asked most often since 2015.

The goal is to educate you, not make you rigid or paranoid.

Want to enjoy drinks with friends? Couldn’t weigh your lunch today? Ate a little more than planned last night? That’s OK. You haven’t "ruined" anything. It’s even built into the plan. Learning how to adjust, estimate, and stay relaxed around food, that’s real food freedom.

Because counting isn’t about controlling every bite. It’s about regaining control over your life.

But as you can imagine, calories are not the only thing to consider in your nutrition. There are several macronutrients that are important to track daily for a successful physical transformation.

Macronutrients, for ideal body composition

The calories you consume every day come from 3 major nutrient families: 

  • Protein;
  • Fats;
  • And carbohydrates (including fiber).

These different macronutrients all have an important role to play in your physical transformation. With the exception of carbohydrates, which have one small particularity. But I’ll explain that further down.

As you can see in the nutrition pyramid, 80% of your results depend on your nutrition program, your daily calorie total, and your macronutrients. 

That’s huge.

That’s why the amount of macronutrients you consume each day needs to be one of your priorities if you want to lose excess fat and tone your body.

So here are the macronutrients that will benefit you.

Protein, for a firm body and healthy muscles

Beyond calories, you need to know how much protein you eat each day. As someone athletic, you should know that protein is very important for:

  • Muscle recovery (and therefore muscle development);
  • Improving the quality of your skin;
  • Increasing bone mineral density;
  • Satiety.

If you don’t eat enough of it, your muscles won’t be able to recover properly after your workout. And poor recovery means poor muscle development and a higher risk of injury.

Basically, without enough protein, your body won’t reflect the effort you’re putting in. 

If your goal is to sculpt a harmonious body and have a toned physique, you have every reason to eat enough protein. Quite simply because your muscles are what will give your body beautiful curves. And just like with calories, if you don’t count it, you won’t know whether you’re eating enough. 

So how much protein should you eat each day?

It’s very simple, if you eat animal protein (meat, fish, etc.), you’ll need between 1.6 and 1.8 g of protein per kg of body weight. If you weigh 70 kg, that means you’ll need to eat about 1.8 x 70 = 126 g of protein each day. If you’re vegetarian or vegan, you should aim closer to 2.2 g of protein per kg of body weight. This difference is explained by the fact that animal proteins are more bioavailable than plant proteins. That means that for the same quantity, your body will absorb animal protein better than plant protein. 

So how do you count your protein and your calories? Nothing complicated. Today, there are apps that handle everything for you. All you have to do is enter the amount of food you ate, and all the calculations are done automatically.

But be careful, too much protein will not give you better results.

Back when I was doing all kinds of nonsense with my diet, I had major joint pain. I realized it was because I was eating way too much protein. I was at between 3 and 4 g of protein per kg of body weight. That’s huge, and above all unnecessary. That’s why it’s important to count your calories and track your intake of protein, fats, carbohydrates, and fiber. You know where you’re going, and you make sure you’re doing things properly. And to be completely honest, once you get the hang of it, it becomes routine. It’ll take you less than 3 minutes per meal at most.

So, in which foods can I find enough protein to hit my optimal daily intake? You’ll find a good amount of protein in:

  • Meat (especially poultry and red meat);
  • Fish (lean and fatty);
  • Seafood;
  • Eggs;
  • Dairy products;
  • Legumes (lentils, chickpeas, beans, etc.);
  • Nuts.

With that, you have everything you need to cook plenty of healthy, delicious, high-protein meals.

Fats, essential fats for your muscle growth

Beyond their essential role in good hormonal and mental health, fats play a key role in creating an environment that supports muscle growth and a harmonious physique.

Among the wide range of fats out there, there are two you should really focus on:

  • Omega-3s
  • MCT oils

Why these two fats? Because they help, among other things, to:

  • Reduce chronic inflammation;
  • Limit muscle breakdown (ideal when you’re trying to build muscle mass);
  • Speed up recovery after training (which will help you feel better for your next workout);
  • Promote a better environment for protein synthesis (your body uses the protein you eat more efficiently, which helps with firmness);
  • Slightly increase the thermic effect of food (they can help you burn a few more calories).

But be careful, not all fats are equal.

Omega-6s, for example, are also essential fatty acids. You find them in vegetable oils like sunflower, corn, or soybean oil. The problem? We often consume far too much of them compared to omega-3s. And in excess, they can promote an inflammatory environment, which can slow recovery, increase chronic pain, and disrupt your hormonal balance. The goal is not to eliminate them, but to rebalance the ratio: less omega-6, more omega-3.

Monounsaturated fatty acids, like the ones found in avocado, olives, or olive oil, are excellent for your cardiovascular health, help with blood sugar management, and fit perfectly into a diet focused on body recomposition. They’re stable for cooking, filling, and support your metabolism without an inflammatory effect.

You’ll find good fats in fatty fish (salmon, mackerel, sardines...), eggs, coconut oil, olive oil, avocados, butter, and goat milk.

The big advantage of many of these foods is that they’re also rich in protein. A great way to kill two birds with one stone.

As for quantities, make sure you consume between 20 and 40% of your daily calorie intake in the form of fats. 20% is really the minimum we recommend. Put simply, if you need to eat 1400 kcal/day, you should consume between 280 kcal and 560 kcal from fats.

Once again, the app is there to help you track all of this closely and easily. So above all, don’t stop yourself from eating fats just because "fat makes you fat." Quite the opposite, when consumed intelligently, these fats will help you reach the body of your dreams.

To finish up with macronutrients, let’s move on to fiber.

Fiber, those often-overlooked carbohydrates that are essential to your physical transformation

Put simply, carbohydrates, meaning sugars, are your body’s fuel. They are the most quickly usable source of energy for your body. But that’s not all. Carbohydrates also play a role in protein synthesis. They make it easier. So basically, they improve your muscle building, which is exactly what we’re trying to do.

As you’ve understood, carbohydrates are very important for your body, and for your physical transformation. 

We’ll be direct, if you don’t have a health issue, you can eat any type of carbohydrate you want (fructose, sucrose, starch, etc.). It won’t really affect your body, as long as you respect your daily calorie total. 

On the other hand, once again, among the many carbohydrates out there, we’re going to focus on one type in particular: fiber.

Why fiber? Because among all carbohydrates, they’re the only ones that have real nutritional value for your weight loss (and muscle gain). And that’s for two main reasons: 

  • They help your digestion (goodbye digestive issues and bloating);
  • They increase the thermic effect of food (for 100 kcal consumed, only 80 or 90 kcal will actually be absorbed by the body).

You’ll find this fiber in everything that grows: vegetables, fruit, legumes, whole grains, seeds, nuts...

Here are a few examples to help you include them easily:

  • Vegetables: artichokes, broccoli, leeks, carrots, spinach...
  • Fruit: raspberries, pears, apples (with the skin), kiwis...
  • Whole grains: oats, brown rice, seeded bread...
  • Legumes: lentils, chickpeas, red or black beans...
  • Seeds & nuts: chia or flax seeds, almonds, hazelnuts...

If you want a simple guideline: add vegetables to every meal, 2 to 3 pieces of fruit per day, one serving of whole grains or legumes, a few seeds or nuts, and you’ll easily be in the right range.

We recommend eating at least 25 g of fiber per day, and ideally up to 35 g if your digestive system tolerates it well. It’s very important for your digestion, your energy levels, your satiety, and incidentally, for your muscle gain. Yes, fiber improves your insulin sensitivity, your nutrient partitioning, and limits inflammation. All factors that support your physical progress, even if fiber does not directly build muscle.

You can eat the rest of your carbohydrates in whatever form you enjoy (cake, ice cream, candy, etc.), provided of course that you stay within your daily calorie total.

Oh, and one more thing, just to get rid of this myth once and for all. You absolutely can eat carbohydrates in the evening. They won’t turn into fat just because you’re going to bed afterward. It’s a myth. Whether you eat carbohydrates, which again are sugars, at noon or at midnight, it will have exactly the same effect on your body. On the other hand, we don’t recommend eating too many carbohydrates at lunch. Otherwise, hello early-afternoon crash.

We’ve just covered the nutrition side of your physical transformation. But nutrition is not the only thing to consider. Sport matters too, and one discipline in particular. You’re about to understand very quickly why nutrition and sport are inseparable when it comes to getting the harmonious, lean physique you’re looking for.

Strength training, essential for a harmonious body

Beyond performance, health, and/or mental well-being, what athletic women are very often looking for is an athletic physique. A balanced physique from head to toe, shaped, lean, and one they feel good in. 

We’ve never heard a woman tell us:

“I want firm, defined legs but floppy, sagging arms”, or even, “I want well-developed legs and flat glutes.”

It may sound silly when put that way, but many people don’t realize that the sport they practice won’t build their body the way they want.

That was exactly the case for Carine, 38:

Carine felt her glutes were too flat, to the point that it had become a real insecurity. Her solution to fix the problem? Running 3 to 4 times a week and not eating all day if the scale showed more than 50 kg when she woke up. She was putting her body under too much stress without managing to change her situation. So we worked together on her relationship with food, which was chaotic, and set running aside in favor of another sport that was much more aligned with her goals. The result: today she has a healthy relationship with food, and above all, the glutes she had always dreamed of.

If you want a harmonious physique that reflects your athleticism, the goal is to build your whole body in a balanced way. Just like Dorothée and Carine did. And what is the best sport for that?

Strength training.

The advantage of strength training is that you have a wide range of exercises that let you develop every part of your body. Glutes, thighs, arms, shoulders, you can train everything evenly. We can even put extra emphasis on certain parts of your body that you’d like to develop more (glutes, inner thighs, abs, etc.). And that’s true no matter your body type. It’s this adaptability that makes strength training so effective. And that’s why all the women we coach start strength training as part of the coaching process.

As you can imagine, you’re not going to turn into a mountain of muscle. Even if you do 3 or 6 workouts a week. Otherwise, all the women you see on our site would be built like rugby players.

To help you picture it, here’s what a week of training looks like for Isabelle, 41, Laure, 32, and Dorothée. What we put in place together is what allowed them to transform their bodies like never before. And that’s even though they were already athletic, or had been in the past.

To get these results, Isabelle trained between 4 and 5 times a week, for 40 minutes per workout. Her program includes 3 different workouts, which she repeats on a loop. The workouts are made up of exercises designed to develop her body harmoniously, while being adapted to her strengths and weaknesses. To bring variety to her program, she often swaps out exercises for variations we suggest. She got the results you see here by training both at home and at the gym. Here is a typical workout from her home strength training program:

In just 4 months, Laure lost nearly 8 kg of fat, 5 cm off her waist, and 6.5 cm off her hips. All while shaping her body and creating a more harmonious physique.

Laure also wanted to train at home, and exclusively with bodyweight. Her goal? To get a fitness coach physique, with visible abs, a slimmer waist, lean legs, and firmer glutes. To get there, Laure did 5 workouts a week of 45 minutes each. She trained both upper and lower body for a sculpted, harmonious physique.

Here’s what one of her strength training workouts typically looks like:

  1. Band Glute Kickback, a rear-extension exercise for the glutes.
  2. Couch Hip Thrust, for combined work on the glutes, adductors (inner thighs), quadriceps, and core.
  3. Ab Wheel, a very interesting dynamic core exercise for defining the abs while keeping the stomach flat.
  4. Reverse crunches to develop her lower abs.
  5. Lateral raises with a bag to start, then a band (once she had enough strength to perform the movement properly): to create a slight roundness in her shoulders.

And what about Dorothée in all this? Used to training at the gym, she wanted to keep going in that direction. So we designed a gym-specific strength training program for her. She trains less than an hour, 3 times a week. We also planned a home version for the days when she can’t make it to the gym.

And just to reassure you, strength training does not have to become the center of your world. As you just saw, you’re not going to spend 5 hours a week on it. With a good tailored strength training program, you can even get very good results by spending only 30 minutes on it 3 times a week.

The advantage is twofold:

  • First, it leaves you time for yourself and your family (between work, kids, the house, going out with friends, and more, your schedule can get busy fast).
  • Second, it allows you to practice a second sport. Maybe you currently run, cycle, do yoga, or something else, and don’t necessarily want to stop. No problem at all! We can absolutely set up a strength training program for you that gives you the time, and the energy, to do another sport too. 

And if you’re a beginner and short on time, 10 minutes of strength training a day is enough to get visible results

The goal, whether it concerns your sport or your nutrition, is that everything you put in place to get the body of your dreams eventually becomes a habit. It has to become easy to follow day to day, so that it feels like a pleasure and not an ordeal. Once you get there, you’ll see that you won’t want to stop. It will become your new normal. That’s what will allow you to maintain your new physique for the rest of your life. 

And precisely, before you even start your physical transformation, there’s one thing you need to have in place: your mindset. 

Being open-minded to succeed in your physical transformation

Dorothée could have never gotten the body she has today, and could have spent the rest of her life with regrets and in a body she felt bad in. And what could have led her there was precisely her 30 years spent doing sports.

Contradictory? Not really.

With practice comes experience. And with experience comes knowledge. And when we know a subject well, or think we know it well, we’re not always very open to new information. Especially when that information is the opposite of what we thought was true.

Dorothée understood very well that if she couldn’t get a body she felt good in, it was precisely because she wasn’t doing what needed to be done. And that’s not a problem at all. We can’t know everything. On the other hand, it’s not always easy to admit it. Especially when ego and years spent doing sports are speaking. So where Dorothée was smart was that she followed our advice without questioning everything. She followed our course, we offered her a program adapted to her profile, she applied it, and got the results she wanted.

And that was despite years spent doing fitness and strength training. 

Without that open-mindedness, she would not have been able to question what she had been doing up to that point. Without it, she would not have followed our guidance, and would never have gotten the results she wanted. And that would have been a real waste.  

Thanks to her open-mindedness, it only took Dorothée 5 months to transform herself. Which goes to show that with the right support and the right knowledge, things can move very fast. Especially when you’re already athletic. 

Dorothée’s new life

In the space of 5 months, Dorothée’s life completely changed. The way people look at her, whether they know her or not, is no longer the same at all. Whereas before she was given no credibility or legitimacy as an athlete, no one questions it anymore today. Quite the opposite. She gets amazing feedback.

She’s a new woman, both physically and mentally. She finally feels that the effort she puts in and her physique are aligned. Put simply, she feels legitimate. She is proud of her new body and of what she has accomplished.

And yet, the beginning wasn’t easy. It took Dorothée a little time to understand, absorb, and put into practice the concepts of caloric deficit, calorie counting, and hitting her protein targets.

She had to make adjustments, learn how to reorganize her plates, and change the way she trained. But today, it has become easy for her. Together, we made sure to put a sports and nutrition routine in place that allows her to enjoy her day-to-day life. Eating is no longer a source of frustration at all. And that changes everything. 

Dorothée’s next goal is to keep developing her glutes. So we’re going to adapt her program to help her get there over the coming months.

10 months ago, I joined Jérémy's program feeling deeply exhausted, both physically and mentally, with the sense that I'd tried everything without ever being able to stick with it over time.

Living with moderate obesity, I tried different methods, diets, fasting, and even electrostimulation, but I always ended up giving up, with more frustration, more guilt, and extra weight gained.

A difference of about 10 kg (weight loss) and a more toned physique.

Not everything was perfect. Sometimes, I didn’t follow the program, and Jérémy helped me let go of the guilt. Those moments are part of the process, what matters is doing your best and sticking with it. Sometimes, I felt like it was pointless, then I looked at the results. I was proud of myself. Other times, I was extremely consistent and it was absolutely on fire.

Before Jérémy, my body was a real obstacle and I didn’t understand why my weight was going up even though “I wasn’t eating that badly.”

I chose to start coaching after gradual weight gain that was worrying me. Despite that, the professionals I saw did not take me seriously, since my BMI was considered "normal." I was often told that "after 40, that's completely common." And yet, deep down, I knew something was wrong. I'm one of those people who prefer to listen to their own feelings rather than blindly trust conventional narratives.

I dreamed of it, and Jérémy made it happen!

How can I describe the incredible life-changing experience of meeting Jérémy, a coach who is educational, kind, and always listening?
The ideal coach, really!

I’ve never exactly been naturally slim, but I have to admit I really went off track in recent years, gaining 20 kg in 5 years without managing to turn things around.
Despite my various attempts, cardio, diet support, EMS electrostimulation classes, and even "good resolutions", none of them worked.
So in the end, I had more or less resigned myself and accepted it: it was too late to change, and I would just live with the consequences of letting myself go for the rest of my life, dissatisfied...

Then, this summer, came the wake-up moment: I couldn’t keep up with my sons and my husband or fully enjoy family activities.
Determined to change the course of things and stop suffering through it without reacting, I clearly identified what I needed: support from someone able to help me both nutritionally and physically.

I reached out to Jérémy after gaining weight following a thyroidectomy, combined with the onset of menopause. I was stuck in limiting beliefs, convinced, after reading many testimonials from women in my situation, that it was almost impossible to lose weight after that kind of surgery and with menopause.
